Post-jam Bug Fixes
Now that the GameDevJs game jam is finished and judged, I will be making updates to Bloodline Ascension to achieve the various plans for the game that didn't make it in time for submission.
Bugfixes
- Update Village map to close off areas where player is safe from enemies.
- Remove scaling time between waves.
- Time scaling between waves was a last-minute attempt to fix issues regarding too many enemies spawning as early as level 2.
- Waves will now progress once the player has eliminated all enemies of the current wave.
Updates
- Vampire hunter speed increase and damage reduction.
- The vampire hunter was too easy to kite, so the speed increase will ideally limit this and encourage the player to utilize their entire set of abilities.
- Wave indicator
- At the start of each wave, there will now be a text popup indicating the current wave, and how many waves are left in the current level.
Future Plans
- Purchasable upgrades
- Add upgrade chests throughout each map at random locations that the player can open with the blood they gather from eliminating enemies.
- Upgrades will be randomized and cost of opening the chest will correspond to the value/rarity of the upgrade it contains.
- Enhanced player feedback
- Add additional visual and audio feedback when the player receives damage, animations, and other features that were not prioritized due to the tight game jam timeframe.
